Please remember that a confirmed payment alone does not constitute a successful application. Your request will only be processed once we have received the fully completed application form and the necessary photographic identification.
Ensure that the completed application form reaches the Academic Registry, as we are unable to follow up on incomplete applications.

Please note that this process can take up to 28 days from receipt of your application and cleared payment.
Any certificate not collected at the presentation of awards or sent to a confirmed postal address within five years will be destroyed and a replacement will need to be ordered via the online shop.
Degree certificates awarded 1965–1992
If you studied a degree course before September 1992 and after 1965, your award was validated by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) and not the Â鶹AV. The CNAA is no longer in existence, but the Open University holds its records and offers a validation service. Please go to the for information on how to proceed.
The university can supply verification letters confirming your award.
Other certificates awarded 1965–1992

Please send your certificate and make the appropriate payment via the online shop.

Third party verification
We regularly receive enquiries from third parties regarding evidence of your qualifications, however in most cases the Data Protection Act strictly prevents us from disclosing information. There are some circumstances where disclosure would be allowed – for example to a criminal investigation agency. In addition, you could consent to information being shared – for example to supply a reference to an employer or agency.
There is a new system that the university is using which is called Higher Education Degree Datacheck (). This is an online verification service for employers and agencies which verifies the Â鶹AV awards. Please note, this service is only for use by third parties such as those verifying your qualifications for a job or for further study.
The system has been developed by Graduate Prospects, in consultation with universities, employers and screening agencies. HEDD is being used by many institutions throughout the UK.
We recommend that you encourage third parties who require verification of your qualifications to use this system because it is a quick, easy way for them to obtain the information and most organisations are already registered on the system. We would suggest that in the first incidence they ask to see your original degree certificate where this is available.
The online candidate verification service requires registered enquirers to input data which you will have to provide (your name, date of birth, course and qualification, year of graduation and degree result). You will need to have completed a which the third party will have to upload in order to give us permission to release confirmation of your qualifications. This consent form helps us to ensure that you are aware of the data share, have consented to the data share and that legal authority is in place to allow for the data share. It also helps to source and find the exact information requested.
